I replied to a casting call I found searching the web but it was for bigger girls. They advised anyone could apply who were 18 and up.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm 17, and if you've seen the pictures...You know I'm not a big girl. But I couldn't resist not applying for it...I figured, what the heck, the worst they can do is tell me I'm not right for the show. So I reply telling them I was pretty sure I had misread the ad, but for curiosity's sake I wanted to clarify the details, just in case...maybe I could try out.
Well As a matter of fact, no. No, I was too skinny they replied politely...but I was welcomed, actually more like extremely encouraged and commanded to call them because they were actually model scouts scouting for MTV's show but also for modelingagencies. I called a bit skeptical at first, and thinking that this might be another scam...Scams are popular in the modeling world. There are some scams that promise you something but you find out they require money to do their job, others are not so bold but in the long run they end up emptying your pockets just the same. Real model scouts and modeling agencies will not require you to pay them...They make money off of you, meaning every time you book a job for them they get a percentage of your earning from the shoot. Not to worry, modeling can still be a very lucrative job, but at first it might be a slow start. More then likely you'll get your chance to shine if you have that special look.
I called them. They told me I was perfect for high fashion. They told me they had an agent ready to give me a contract if I went to see them in June. If they liked my look they would give me a contract on the spot and fly me to New York. I'd have to stay at a hotel but if I told the hotel who I was with they would reduce the price for me. They didn't want any money (except for the hotel stay I'd have to pay the hotel). I must have talked with them for 30 minutes. They advised me they wanted more natural pictures, less photoshop. I showed them my amateur shots that my friends took of me with my house camera. They loved them. They told me they wanted to see more, and when the day came to see them, they wanted me to bring every single photo ever taken of me to help me organize my portfolio to make sure the agent who saw me would see what he wanted to see in the photos. They knew all the major agencies in New York and were very good friends with the owners and some known models. For the sake of everyone involved I'm not going to tell you the name of the agency I might be signed with just yet...but right now this looks legit. I can't believe, I was so excited and nervous that I stuttered a bit on the phone trying to get all the facts in order in my head. She gave me phone number and the regular company phone number. This is so cool. I feel blessed, and thankful. This could be my opportunity, this can be my way in. Man, if this is really, truly, the way it sounds. Then I'm going to get that contract, baby! I'm going to work hard and all the hard work I've put into this (I still have a long way, I'm sure) but man it's going to be for something. All the people who told me I could do it, I guess their remarks weren't in vain. I don't want them to be. I'm going to keep going no matter what, but I really do feel like someone is watching over me up there. I have so much to tell you all, but I'll just leave it like this...When I get more news I'll be sure to update everyone.
P.S. I also shot yesterday, with a local photographer. I'll post the pictures up soon for you all to see.
BTW! Revolve Promotions has a Myspace....and guess who is their default picture at the moment? Me. ^_^ Go check it out!
wowowowowowo thats awesome news :D :D :D im so excited for you! this could be the start to something so great and successful!! it's awesome to see someone like yourself start to get "discovered" and have a legit try at modeling. i've always wanted to model, but for me it dosent seem like a likely shot, which is awfully crushing. but omg this is just so great! im so happy for you, i wish you only the best of luck in this! remember who you are throughout this all :p cheers!! xx
Congrats. It all sounds very promising. NY is a fantastic city (I live in Brooklyn). I know a number of pro shooters and models and it's an interesting/tough business so make sure to keep on your toes and, of course, seriously kick-ass.
congrats & good luck {I saw that same ad on craigslist.org, but didn;t reply... as I am small too & I hate reality TV.} - but be VERY careful, like you said... a lot of scams out there! Also, as the old adage goes... if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Keep this in mind that If you are signed with a NY agency you will have to move to NY {if you don't already live there}. Very, very few agencies will rep. someone out of their area. xo - Tally

hey, it doesnt look like Uber's help team is doing anything right now but if you buy your domain through GoDaddy and set it up, you will still go to Uber.com to edit your page and it will look exactly the same. The only difference is that your URL wont have ".uber.com" in it anywhere :)
Well, thank you for your comment! Umm...not much to say about it right now. But I'm sure it would have been somewhat interesting if I wasn't sorta tired. Have fun with your blogging thingy-ma-jig. Awesome pictures, and great looking set up! Stay classy!
